(CLASS I to V)
The primary school curriculum of DIS encourages inquiry and exploration and develops child’s competence in various skills; reading, writing, listening, speaking, problem-solving, observation, measurement and use of information and communication technology. The junior school curriculum is a blend of an exciting and creative learning environment with an inter-disciplinary appreciation of languages, mathematics, science and social sciences as individual and integrated subjects. There is a provision and emphasis given to individual, small group and whole group activities to improve child’s ability to work across all levels. The absolute focus is on developing communication skills so that the child is able to appreciate the value of education through their ability to express themselves in addition to developing pragmatic skills. The wide range of curricular and co-curricular opportunities offered help to instill a sense of confidence, self-worth, team spirit, discipline and individual and social accomplishment. Engagements in community service activities sensitise the children to the needs of their community, nation and to the world around them. Field- trips, excursions, projects, exchange programmes, activities and presentations provide experimental learning opportunities to the junior-school students.
